Stuart Bramley, a partner in Tozers medical negligence team specialising in missed cancer claims, comments on this article in today's Mail online:
"This rather worrying report is reminiscent of the radiology errors at two hospitals in Devon in the mid-1990s, which I was involved in. In that case, 82 misdiagnoses of breast cancer were made including 11 patients who had died. At the time assurances were made that lessons had been learned and new practices were to be introduced but, although the Bristol cases are reported to concern pathology rather than radiology, it seems that there still remains a threat of breast cancers being overlooked in the UK. Thousands of patients and their families in the South West must be deeply concerned on reading this."
